But what makes me really sad is the fact that the SGU demise won't give us SGA back...

Who knows? I'm still hoping that once SG-Ew will be cancelled, MGM will reconsider the idea of making the movie (or a mini series), or let someone else buy the rights to produce it.

Apparently, quite the opposite according to Mr. Mallozzi. Well, I never believed that SGA movie would actually happen. You do know they auctioned off SGA sets and even Atlantis stargate pieces..? *cry*
