I've been looking online to see if you can buy a freeze dryer for home use. Interesting concept. I can't find any prices whatsoever ( Read more... )

Do you know what a zeep-slinger is? Its al guirlande of soap.
You make rain chaines with iron and theacups but in Holland we make a rope whit some pieces of soap and (how do you call it) kralen en linten. This beautiful guirlande can you hang up in the toilet, bathroom or bedroom.... i think you will like it, also to make.

I doubt they're available for home use--basically, you'd need both a powerful freezer and a vacuum pump. Basically, freeze drying consists of (1) flash freezing, then (2) evaporating all of the water under vacuum. Step #2 requires a fairly low air pressure, so a cheap vacuum pump won't cut it.
