I think it was all this that attracted me to Hutch when I was 14. He was tough, yet sensitive. He folded clothes for the ladies. He was soft spoken. He just did it for me and still does.
So true, Nancy. There is a tender side we see in Hutch straight away in the pilot when he gives Lijah the dollar. We see it consistently thereafter with Kiko, Sweet Alice, and so many others. I love how he takes in Molly/Pete when he hasn't a clue what to do with her, but his heart bleeds for her. He can be so tough like when he throws Bellamy's girlfriend into the chair, yet so gentle to Belinda.
If it wasn't for Starsky's white jacket, I'm not sure I would have known what episode this was!
Hutch seems very easy to be around. I relate to him much more than to Starsky; yet, he loves Starsky so thoroughly, while I'd find Starsky to be a very difficult person to be around. (For starters, his chatter and contorted logic would aggravate me, no end, while Hutch usually regards such with loving amusement.)
