Basically, I'd learned that if you don't get a handle on your weird inner crap, nobody else will, and Those Outside will never do as good a job of it. Inching ahead becomes one's only reward.
I've definitely found that very tiny goals, which are accomplishable, help me feel better and more capable of moving forward. Like, if I get into a situation of thinking, "Man, you just don't do ANYthing, do you??" I say, well, I did the dishes. And I changed the cat litter. Those are two things." Like that.
