Summary: Ten Random Facts about Luke and Reid
1. The first time [and second time and third time] Luke and Reid ever made love, Reid was so careful of Luke’s transplant scar. Gentle. Almost reverent. Luke didn’t want the scar to worry Reid. He started drawing little doodles with a magic marker on his scar for Reid to ‘discover’. Tarzan swinging from the scar like it was a vine. A brontosaurus with the scar standing in for it’s neck. A penis. Luke loved hearing Reid snort with laughter.
2. One day at a Snyder Family Picnic and Dramafest, Luke’s sister Abigail overheard Faith, Natalie and Jade discussing which one of them should donate eggs for the future Snoliver babies. Abigail unsuccessfully tried to hide that she was hurt that Luke never thought to ask her to donate. Faith explained that since Reid was going to donate the sperm, that they were going to try to use eggs from one of Luke’s female relatives. When Abigail looked confused, Faith reminded her that Abigail wasn’t biologically related to Luke. Abigail turned beet red. She rarely thought of Luke as her half-brother let alone her adopted half-brother.
3. There are some Snyders that Reid’s never going to learn to like. And Luke’s fine with that. Even Luke recognizes that some of his family members are utter lunatics [and have the psychiatric diagnoses to prove it].
4. Sometimes Luke and Reid bicker. Well, more than sometimes. But they rarely fight. Oddly enough, when they do fight it’s usually about something incredibly mundane like whose turn it is to go grocery shopping.
5. Luke honestly never gets angry when Reid gets called into the hospital for an emergency. He’s so amazed that Reid saves lives that he couldn’t possibly begrudge the minor inconveniences of having a brilliant neurosurgeon for a boyfriend. That doesn’t stop Kim Hughes from trying to commiserate with him.
6. Reid and Luke were the first non-married couple that Emma ever gave permission to share a bedroom at the farmhouse. Reid was amused at the astonished expressions of each of the adult Snyders when they learned that Emma was making an exception to her rules. And Reid made sure that each of the adult Snyders learned that Emma was making an exception to her rules. He even got Carly to telephone the Snyders living out of town.
7. Reid wasn’t sure what it said about him that his favorite of Luke’s parents was the one with the criminal ties to the Maltese underworld. Alleged criminal ties to the Maltese underworld.
8. Luke loved to host dinner parties. And Reid loved Luke. And he loved that Luke allowed him veto power on the dinner guests. Reid eventually vetoed half of the Hughes family. Surprisingly, he never vetoed Hank Coleman. Hank may be a buffoon, but he was an amusing buffoon.
9. Sometimes when Reid came home from work, Luke would be cuddled up on the sofa with his youngest sister Natalie. They would be drinking hot cocoa [with the colorful marshmallows] while Natalie sniffled and leaned into Luke’s side. Reid would ask if anything was wrong and Natalie would deny it while Luke hurriedly shook his head at Reid. Reid never understood why Natalie would sometimes be blue for no reason. It worried him until he realized that Natalie’s sad days came along about once every 28 days.
