Flipper and Luke

Summary: Luke and Reid swim with dolphins
Luke was freaked out. He was hurriedly throwing his dry clothes on over his wet swimsuit. He didn’t notice that he put his t-shirt on backwards.
Reid approached him slowly and pulled him into a gentle hug. “Shhhh, it’s okay.”
One of the dolphin trainers ran up to the men. “Mr. Snyder, I’m so sorry. This has never happened here before.”
Reid glared at the hand-wringing trainer while he stroked his hands down Luke’s back in a calming manner.
Luke slowly drew back from Reid’s embrace. “This has been an unfortunate experience but Reid and I appreciate the time you’ve spent demonstrating everything. I’ll need more time to review if my foundation should help fund the animal-assisted therapy project your center is developing.”
“Thank you for coming down and I’m so sorry,” said the trainer.
Reid pulled on his own clothing over his swimsuit and he and Luke returned to their hotel. The drive was silent. When they got back to the hotel, Luke and Reid crawled into the bed and cuddled into one another.
“This is going to be a funny story someday, right?” asked Luke quietly.
“If you’re using the word funny to mean traumatizing, sure,” replied Reid. “You’re not actually still thinking of donating money to the center are you?”
“No,” said Luke. “The experience of being sexually molested by a dolphin has made the idea of helping to fund an animal-assisted therapy dolphinarium really gross.”
“If it helps at all, I’m sure that the dolphin really cared about you and wasn’t just after sex,” assured Reid.
Luke snorted a laugh. “That’s horrible! Not nearly enough time has passed in order for this to be funny, you insensitive jerk.”
“Are you mad because the dolphin didn’t buy you flowers first?”
Luke hit Reid in the face with a pillow. “I’m pretty sure the dolphin is more sensitive and mature than you are.”
Reid laughed. “So, am I gonna come home one day to find that you’ve run off with Flipper, the sensitive and mature dolphin?”
Luke smiled and shook his head at Reid. “Alas, Flipper and my cross-species love would never work long term. He’d never put up with Snyder family dinners at the farm.”
