1. After his parents returned his sister Hope to her biological mother, Luke worried that Lily and Holden would give him away if he was bad. He worried about it for a very long time.
2. The smell of apple butter always reminds Luke of the time when he was ten and his Grandma Emma had broken leg. He had spent weeks being her "Chief Executive Canning Officer". He had loved the opportunity to spend time alone with her. Every year since then, he’d planned to make and preserve his own apple butter but just never got around to it.
3. Sometimes, he feels guilty that he had such a loving relationship with his colorful Aunt Rose. He wishes that his cousin Jade could have known her mother.
4. During a sleepover at Casey Hughes’ house when they were small, Luke accidentally saw Margo Hughes naked.
