I love this verse and I loved this. Steven's had to handle some pretty weird shit so it figures he'd be able to handle this. I love Ianto's awareness about the thin ice they're on with Alice and his reluctance. I can't blame Alice for her wariness though, but at least she seems to be trying which considering what Jack did to Steven I wouldn't blame her if she never trusted him around Steven again.

The last line was interesting because it's ambiguous as to whether Steven is just in playing along mode or does still think in terms of Ianto being his dad. Either way it speaks to their relationship. The level of trust and ease they have with each other or just how profoundly that year imprinted on Steve that Ianto is still viewed as more of a parent by Steven than even his own uncle/grandfather.

:D :D :D Thanks!

Alice would probably be very happy to never let Jack within a mile of her son again, but other events in the storyverse have (conveniently) changed her mind. ;)

I'm very glad the ambiguity of the last line came through. I have a recurring theme in my fics about created/found families, and I love love love working with that dynamic, especially when there's extra context for the blood family.

Thanks for reading!

Think of it as being said with air quotes. ;)

Glad you liked it!

Oh, Jackie Boy...you never change, do you!? I love Steven's comment: "Mum will kill you."

He never does. The mission and the work always come first. Which is why he keeps his friends around to smack him on the back of the head now and then. :)

Thanks for dropping by!

Honestly Jack. Alice isn't the only one who is going to kill you. I'm kinda keen on the idea myself.

I do like the thought of them playing happy families, sort of. I can see Ianto's point that it ought to be a little more romantic.

This fits your verse perfectly. Slightly edgy and awkward and sweet at the same time.

Thank you! <3 I think Jack does believe Steven won't be in any harm. I think he's wrong.

I love the notion of the three of them playing happy families, because I think they'll be rubbish at it. ;)

Lovely! I hope everything goes smoothly though, so that Alice has no reason to kill any of them,

One day I might even get around to actually reading the Straysverse properly - so much to read, so little time...

I'm sure she'll find reasons. I mean, her next line is begging to be, "You did what?"

I am occasionally shocked at this 'verse because as a whole it's shorter than some of my standalone fics. I always think it's much longer, because it feels like it covers so much ground in my head. But nope.
