Any thoughts?

I was on the phone with a friend earlier. She just started a new job about a week ago & has over an hour long commute. She was complaining that even though her mom is home all day, dinner doesn't get made, & laundry doesn't get done & it's up to her & her brother to do it all ( Read more... )

I have done 30-ish hrs/wk work + full time school + lame social life. And that is when I ended up voluntarily failing a class (too late to drop), because pulling it all together would have not been impossible.

Now, I think it would be even more difficult. In high school I could get by on 4hrs/night of sleep. By college I needed more. (I guess 6-ish) And now I can't seem to function without at least 7-8. So I really can't pull off what I used to.

So, your mom's case really is very impressive.

If your friend doing school part-time, or full-/near-full-time? Since that could change a lot. And how is your commute?

I don't understand how people can put up with spending over an hour commuting each way. Especially if by car. Moving seems well worth the tremendous about of time regained. Change halve the commute gets an hour extra day. That's plenty of time for chore type stuff and dinner.
