“I had you first, and I shall have you last, James Norrington, don’t you forget it.”

hahaha YES! SCORE ONE, TEAM ANDREW!

it's good to see james finally breaking through and showing a little emotion outside of the bedroom. i'm glad he's showing the fact that he is going to miss dear andrew.. showing a little vulnerability, as it were. awesome!

"Yes! Score one, team Andrew!" - I just keep re-reading that because it makes me laugh so much. :) Maybe we should have a scene of them playing sport and getting physically competitive, haha! Maybe not a cannon drill. I can't afford to sink the ship before Andrew sails in it! Anyway, forgive my rambling, and thank you so very much again for your comments, I'm always thrilled to hear back and think "Ahh, I got the right things across, huzzah!". When I wrote the beginning of this snippet, James was not as 'indifferent' to Andrew in bed, but once I thought about it a little more, settled for what it came to be, since I'm a tad awkward around 'tender' moments, especially between two men - I hate to overdo something which might not even be likely in the first place. It's like pausing and seeing James's or Andrew's face, looking unimpressed, and saying "I would not act like that", lol. Anyway, thanks again for your support! :D

Woohoo, go Andrew! Really though, this is what I like about your James and Andrew. I just had a conversation last night with another writer about pet peeves in fanfic, and how mine was the way so many slashfic writers have a tendency to emasculate one or both of their characters. They can't seem to write emotional or sensitive moments without turning full grown men into chicks with dicks, basically. And I love that you have avoided doing that with James and Andrew. They have their insecurities and issues and moments of vulnerability, but they're still always themselves, if that makes sense. They're both confident, capable men who, despite the difference in rank, are very much equals. :)

Oh, and I loved the exchange about the pins, and Andrew calling James ridiculous. That made me smile. :)

Crowning moment! namu_chewy March 17 2009, 12:06:58 UTC
Your words "they're still always themselves" has become one of my crowning moments for this string of snippets, lol. I feel like I should have it embossed on a plaque - I have achieved something, huzzah! I am just glad and relieved that you think so, Jade. A lot of the times some random idea comes to mind, as I'm sure as a fellow writer you can recall all the times that's happened to yourself! but then I always measure it up against "Is that likely ( ... )

I love you so much for giving Andrew the last word, very good thing to say too. Kinda wanted to punch James a little but he's like that. God this has been such a wonderful journey, thanks for writing it all!

Not at all, sunnyrea! It has been my pleasure to scribble and share. :D Your comment made me laugh too - "wanted to punch James...but he's like that." - and it also made me smile, because it makes me feel I've created a version of James which people can find convincing, which is always good. :) Thanks again for your support, I'm just very glad that you enjoyed reading it!

I find both your James and Andrew very convincing and you are, as I believe someone else said, very good at keeping them both as real characters, real men, and not turning one into a girl or making them both just crazy gay navy tarts.

*Laughs* Crazy gay navy tarts. Oh dear, that might be the case for my pure smut pieces... Yes, I feel faintly embarrassed, hm! Thank you for that, though, I'm glad the main story is believable (if not the extra scenarios - but no matter, it's a nice distraction, if one can be even more distracted! At least that is my excuse, ha!).
