☇ RECENTLY WON FIRST PLACE @ cg_icontest (WEEK 053)
☇ REQUIRES LOTS OF SELECTIVE COLORING SO NON-TRANSLATABLE. 8|
☇ PROGRAM: PHOTOSHOP CS3
☇ GO FROM:
to
step 1
Start of with your base.
step 2
Duplicate your base and set it to SCREEN 28%.
step 3
Create a new Selective Color layer with these settings:
REDS: -100, 0, -24, 12
YELLOWS: -43, 0, -16, 12
GREENS: -100, -100, 28, 100
WHITES: -18, 0, -9, 2
NEUTRALS: -7, 0, 9, -9
BLACKS: 3, 0, 0, -9
step 4
Create a new layer and fill if with #26231F. Set it to EXCLUSION 100%.
ACK. HOW AWFUL.
step 5
Hide the exclusion layer and create a new layer. Apply the image (CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + E) and bring it to the top. Set it to SOFT LIGHT 100%.
step 6
Create another Selective Color layer with these settings:
REDS: -62, 0, -19, -12
YELLOWS: 66, -34, 55, -4
GREENS: -100, -100, 100, 100
WHITES: 11, 0, -9, 13
NEUTRALS: 4, 0, -8, -2
step 7
Create yet another Selective Color layer (I swear this is the last one. @w@), with these settings:
REDS: -30, 0, -8, 16
YELLOW: 31, -44, 35, -18
WHITES: 8, 0, -11, -6
NEUTRALS: 3, 0, 1, -3
step 8
New Brightness/Contrast layer. Key in these values:
BRIGHTNESS: -5
CONTRAST: 28
step 9
Create a new layer and apply image. FILTER > SHARPEN > SHARPEN.
If it's too sharp, go to EDIT > FADE SHARPEN and reduce the opacity.
step 10
New layer. Flood fill it with #ECEBE9.
Set it to MULTIPLY 41%.
step 11
DECORATE IT! TEXTURIZE IT! ADD TEXT! WHATEVER YOU CAN THINK OF!
For me, I took this lovely texture by ffyunie@dA.
EDIT > TRANSFORM > FLIP HORIZONTAL and move it around until it looked nice.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&YOU'RE DONE!
Seriously, 11 steps for a First Place icon? LOL. OTL
Please also remember and take note that all images do not necessarily work with the settings and values. Experiment and tweak the settings to suit your own bases. :)
