He found her lazing in one of the smaller studies off the library, not by calling her name but by tracing the echoes of her presence--another new trick, and one that he hadn't been taught--
Is this a common ability or if he mentions this are a bunch of them going to blink rapidly a few times as they refactor things?
Her majesty had really nice mugs
*absently smacks Wells upside the head*
No, you do not get to comment on Her Majesty's 'mugs'.
Just said "Please?", as neutrally as he could.
She mock-scowled up at him. "If you tip me into the water I reserve the right to light your Winter-kissed boat on fire."
Hee! Aw, baby brudder! He all but pulled out the puppy dog eyes, didn't he?

:D Nicely spotted. As it happens, while--given the prompting that it's possible--just about any mage could track someone, Ulysse happens to be really, really good at it. This actually comes up during the wars. >.>
Well, he could always try it to her face. *solemn*
Actually, no; while he thought about it, he decided against trying it. (Which is probably why it worked: she feels justified in ignoring Puppy Eyes.)

I now have "You ain't nothing but a hound dawg!" playing in my head.
I'm not entirely sure about Wells' survival instinct and judging by the way Attwater is miming "NO!" at me over his head, I don't think I'll let that particular experiment run through.
Zen Puppy Eyes. :D

.... Bwahahaha. Oh, dear. How often does he need to be excluded from conversations with various practitioners and not-technically-humans?
*snerk* Indeed.

What colours? And what shades is he accustomed to?
It still might as well be, only instead of a boom heading for his head it was his sibling.
Love this line.
The pencil was actually embedded point first in the wood of the door framing, he saw.
Bwah. *cough* Ahem. <3
"Voila, attack thesaurus?" she offered, and he blinked down at her.
*cackles!* <3
"Breathe, Ulysse," she commanded, mouth quirking up into a conspiratorial smile. "My baby brother threw a fireball at me more than one morning. You're not even in the running yet."
Ulysse, this is a hint! Learn quickly, before any more kids show up. *solemn*

I'm will Illian on the curiosity, here.
"Mm?" she replied around the rim of a mug of tea. Unless he missed his guess she'd borrowed the cup from her mother, and ( ... )

'Fiat Illian!'?

It took me a while to find the right sailing metaphor, but oh, it worked nicely once I did. :)

*SNERK* Actually, they got lucky. The next kids to show up were Donel and Ruadhan; I suspect it wasn't until Ulysse started having kids of his own (or interacting with various noble and/or royal offspring) that he started running into the fireball Problem. Or, in certain cases, the localised hurricane difficulty. >.>
I'm with Illian on the curiosity, here.
:) In a sense it's noticing a different use for a wheel, but in another sense, Ulysse's ability to follow people by the trail of their magic is actually one of the arcs in the wars. Other people can do it--but he's really good at it.
And yes, Ulysse, she really is very, very fond of you.
She really is. :) It's neat to see it

Yup. Rather more than once, apparently. (It's possible Hazel's sister Sascha got her desire to set things on fire from her technically-human side, not the dragon. O.o;)
Mattieu and Pierre didn't live to the Trickwood Unification, let alone the main wars era, so they haven't gotten a lot of screentime, as yet. =\ (4th and 1st of Aifiric's many, many children, respectively.)

I'll add that to the list; given how old Fintain would've been, the political implications probably went right over his head, but Arianhrod was sure old enough for it.
