though Dima had managed to get about five parts for the price of three

Dima; useful and valued member of this vessel, if for no other reason than people like to not charge him for shit.

Katya, after several hours tossing out more and more ridiculous ideas, had eventually given up and put the shard into the bin of scrap metal to be used for forging more parts.

I am now inappropriately curious as to what it actually was. But you likely don't know either. =| Wench.

She tended to get creative with nothing much to do, and there was currently a lot of nothing to do.

And

and the other for Katya, with a preliminary write-up of what chemicals she was exposing herself to on an opportunistic schedule.

And

Fyodor had handed over a reply note from Katya with his stack of activities the next morning. "You two really arguing over her tea?"

I find that these three sentences have something very important in common...

Out this far from Vladimir's roads--funny how 'civilisation' could shift from the crowded atmospheres of a city like Tver ( ... )

Dima's ability to bargain without talking much is kind of fascinating. O.o;

Actually, it's just a bit of a broken sledge--what's more interesting to my eyes is that they only found one. >.>

Katya's kinda fun, ain't she. :D

We don't know precisely why Ilya's out on the frontier. Not least because he won't talk about it. =|

KZORCH! Ahem. I think the screaming is how he's hearing various kzorches interacting with a confined space and a lot of kind of delicate parts?

Is not a happy horse, no.

:)

Oh, very possibly. He may actually have to consciously confront that through the course of his story. >.>

Folktales: little kids, the elderly, and Fools sleep in alcoves attached to the chimney/stove, where it's warm. The hero of a certain class of folktales is a fool called Ivan, Vanya, or Vanuschka depending on translation. :)

=P Love you too, brat.

Noooo. Especially with No Warning. =\

The snark's kind of fun--I'd known that there was snark, but kind of not how much. (It is--I don't have the handpoints to type up an example, but there's a whole class of folktales with a Fool named Ivan as their hero. [The elderly, small children, and fools sleep in the warm spaces attached to the stove, y'see.])

Congratulations, you set off Andrew's "I'm stuck floating in a metal box in the deeps of space! AGAIN!" alarms. I may now need alcohol.

. . . the way Thunderer stories sometimes ended, when He forgot to stay young and humans paid for it.

*pokes at this*

He's a nervy fellow. Ignore the glare he is now sending me.

Ah, ha!
