Arianhrod replied, glancing down at her skirts and irritably twitching one section back where it belonged. Wretched thing liked to cleave layers on her, and the spells that held the abstract jasper-patterns to the cloth had so far resisted her ability to pin the section where it belonged.

I do adore the casualness (Sweet heavens, that was nearly causality) of your magicians.

"Let's say truth here," Arianhrod put in, sliding her words between Ulysse's breathy pause and Fintain's startled stare, "Not 'people'--you couldn't care less if dangerous men share your space. It's only women you needle."

"Hey," her brother began to protest, looking between her and Ulysse, but broke off when Ulysse grinned at him, bright as the sun reflecting from the harbour.

"Good hunting, brother mine," he said, and clapped Fintain on the shoulder, grin only widening as Fintain stared at him.

*facepalm* Most of this family are insane.

"You shan't find me seeking out way to make my heart race, and don't expect me to rescue either of you."*sporfle* Ahem ( ... )

:) The casual use of magic is very fun to play with.

*facepalm* Most of this family are insane.

*snerk!* This is a surprise?

And how fortunate no one caused the accident.

Nah, Ulysse isn't important enough yet to be worth it, even assuming it occurred to someone. >.>

Well, relatively speaking.

Arguably Phoebe, Iarlaith and Pierre are also sane, to that relatively standard. (Mahieu ain't. Neither is Aifiric.)

You do it well.

This is a surprise?

Noooo, not after this long it isn't. Its the "ooh! SHINY!" they get over things that can stomp them flat that is a trifle worrying.
But then I look at who their writer is.

Not all the Sabaeys have that response to things that can stomp them flat. (Actually, most of them don't have that response. It's just the ones who do are Really Noisy.)

*snorf!* Just because I failed my reverence roll, you accuse me of Sabaey-level shinybrain?

To be fair, it's his heart that gets all racy, not hers. :) (And yeah. Her first husband was a pirate. I suspect Ulysse thinks she's very, very funny.)

Our lady Arianhrod, she is not an On cat? >.>

You're very welcome. I'm just sorry I didn't manage Fintain being directly charming for you?

Cool. :)

Ulysse: Oh, HEY, you make more sense now! Awesome!

Arianhrod: ... I am surrounded by crazy people. =|

Ulysse: But you loooooove us. :D

Does Arianhrod refer only to Fintain as her brother? I was a bit turned around at the beginning, not being sure whether she was talking about Fintain or Ulysse.

That she was tall enough to look directly over Arianhrod's head Arianhrod tried not to hold against her. Almost all of her siblings were that tall or taller.

*cackle*

"He's been asking if she'd agree to a meal with him all week, and he's either finally wore her down or she's annoyed enough to agree in the hopes of being able to stab him with a oyster knife."

And if Fintain is interested in her, either is very possible!

she muttered, irritably twitching her braid to hang neatly down her back.

Arianhrod's having a bad fashion day, seems like.

"Oh, are we talking about Dad, then?" ( ... )

She'll refer to both Ulysse and Fintain as her brother; everyone else gets half-brother, so far as I can easily determine. I'm thinking of adding 'little' on as a descriptor, on reread.

Arianhrod is having a Discontented and it's manifesting in irked at her hair and her clothes, yes.

That he can make that leap says SO MUCH.

Yeeeees. >.>

I do sort of love the 'If I actually want rescuing I've done something wrong', still. :) Also the line you pulled out to follow it. :D

I'm actually not sure; it didn't get to the point of unhappy stabbings, in any event, but he may have been Disappointed or she might have gone for it and he wandered around with very happy bite marks for a while.
