It’s not the first time Sherlock’s seen John naked. It’s just the first time in a sexual way, and for some reason, the difference matters. John keeps his back to him while he strips, shy and uncomfortable and so adorable Sherlock wants to wrap him up in his arms and never let him go. He attempts to quell the feeling, because it’s purely illogical. Downright idiotic. But that want thrums under his skin, and he lets his fingers trail up John’s back. Senses his shiver.
When John turns, his hand is placed ineffectively over the ugly mottled scar tissue of his shoulder. Sherlock has heard of it, of what happened, the sheer pain he’d been in. digging out the bullet himself. But he can’t understand why John is ashamed of it. So he grips John’s wrist firmly and pulls it away. Presses kisses to the corners of his mouth, his jaw, and the scar, before John flinches away like he’s been slapped.
“Don’t touch it.” he whispers, his fingers clenching, eyes down cast as he swallows thickly. Sherlock pulls his face up. He wants to say something scathing, thinks that they should be long past John’s trust issues. He wants to say something romantic, that he loves all of him, despite his faults, because of them. Or something possessive, that John is his and that’s all that he cares about. Every inch of pale skin, marked with scars , every hair. Every cell is his.
Sherlock settles instead for smirking a little, gripping soft blonde hair between his fingers as he pulls him into a kiss, his other hand resting on the scar. He doesn’t care. As far as he’s concerned, that same scar brought John to him.
