I feel so out-of-place reading Speirs/Lipton nowadays, it's seriously not something I'm accustomed to anymore. And most stuff I read is raw and violent (pairing-induced, evidently) and then this-

This is so quiet and so sweet, and I actually really rather like it for a change (of pairing, of rating, of genre).

And, you know, next to that, smoking+kissing is sexy.

It's very odd, indeed, because I feel like I have a hard time selling 'sweet' if you know what I mean. So just the fact that you think it is makes me extremely happy-- as the piece of art was just as sweet and comparing it as just the same makes me feel I might have done it some justice.

And OMFG, YES. It is. In almost everything I've written there's SOME mention of Speirs and Lipton sharing a smoke. There's something simply intimate about it that I love. Of course, sharing a kiss afterwards makes it about tenfold. =D

I'm sorry it's taken so long to get round to commenting, but this was lovely. I liked how Lipton knew what was happening - knew who the gifts were from and why Speirs had given him the gift, before Speirs himself did. There is a wonderful tension throughout, but it's very gentle.
