Help needed for a friend of mine

Apr 22, 2008 14:37

I know I have a few Gmail lovers on my flist, so I wonder if any of you are able to help starwatcher307 out, please.

It's to do with 'nesting' connected conversations together.

starwatcher307 would like to know if anyone know how to customize Googlemail to make it show specifics instead of "nesting" the "conversations"?

Can any Gmail lover help her, please?

I have Gmail, but I don't think I could help because I don't know what "nesting the conversations" means.

Hi! If you have Gmail, you know more than I do. What I mean is, the 'conversation' feature, where everything is grouped together. Right now, I have --

-- and so on. I'd like to be able to 'unfold' that list, and see those separate emails individually.

Do you have any ideas?

Oh that....

Open an email. On the right hand side are four links...New Window, Print All, Expand All and Forward All. Click on Expand All and that allows you to view all the emails in a particular thread.

Thank you; that's useful information.

But what I want to see is separate emails in the 'top view', not have to click on separate conversations to unthread them.

I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and call Customer Support. I just dread the thought of 45 minutes on hold...

I know what you mean by nesting. I don't use G-mail for that reason, it confuses me. I use it for onlinebutnotfannish activities and have never managed to work out how to really work it.

I think I did manage to unfold a convo once but by accident...

Yes. Unfortunately, my ISP choices are dialup or satellite. Just got satellite, yay, but now I'm stuck with their Dishmail, which is a Gmail clone.

That's encouraging; there's hope.

Yay satellite. Unfortunate you don't get a choice about e-mail though.

And I now see there's been a solution above that's good.
