.
I've had a couple the past two days -- both times after I ran "CCleaner", which clears out all that stuff. Most times I don't bother clearing cache and cookies. That's the first time I had the 'login' emails, and I haven't had them since. But most times, I don't even shut down my computer; I usually just 'hibernate' it, so I might not get the emails even if it was a 'new session' thing.

There does seem to be a link between clearing history and getting them and those who don't clear it doesn't get them. Except it's not 100%

Thanks for commenting.

I've been getting them every day for a week and the only thing I clear is 'history' which is done automatically. But it's helpful to know that it's not just my problem as I thought I'd started doing something wrong!

It's not quite 100% of people who do clear out getting them and those who don't aren't, but it's quite a significant number, so I think there has to be some link.

It's always good to know you're not alone!

I haven't had that happen with LJ, but it's happened with other sites. When I logged into Facebook for the first time from my iPhone, Facebook then sent me an email notification. I'm like, "Um, yeah, I know someone else tried to log in as me from another device. It was me!"

It seems so many sites are doing this now. I had it the other day when I had to log into Yahoo groups to approve someone for a group. The thing is whilst it can be a useful tool once it throws up so many errors people will just start ignoring it.

Sorry for the deleted post. i had misunderstood something.

I'm not getting them, and I clear my history with CCleaner every day.

No worries.

Thanks for your input. I still think there has to be some link as the majority of people who clear are getting them and those who don't aren't, but it seems to be something else as well.

Yeah, I've gotten two of them today and have used my same computer and phone. Hmm.

perturbed me at first but I guessed it was just a glitch. :/

The thing is if they don't hurry up and sort it all the good it might do will just go. I don't bother reading the daily email any more :-(
