I tend to wait to see how a site pans out before I join. And then I tend to resist a bit longer. Pinterest is a case in point. I resisted until a close friend sent an invitation, joined, and I quite like it but am not at all sure what it's *for*. So now I don't bother with it all that much and there are plenty of other I haven't bothered with at all - Google+, tumblr etc. You can't do it all.
I'd never even heard of pinterest until it was mentioned here. Like you I don't intend to join any of all the social media stuff. Beside my fiction I'm not inclined to share anything.
A bunch of my friends are jumping on the Tumblr and Dreamwidth bandwagons. When they do get around to posting on LJ again, they're always like, "Oh, I'm sorry, I just like Tumblr or Dreamwidth" better. Some also link their DW entries on LJ. I personally think it would get too complicated to have that many blogs.
I still refuse to join Twitter. I don't get all the hype, and after finally caving in to Myspace and being let down by that, I don't really want to face another letdown.
Some of mine are too - I do not 'get' Tumblr, I really don't. I don't like (for a variety of reasons) DW; I only have it as a back-up. I think it must be too.
I didn't really get Twitter even when I was actually tweeting rather than just DM'ing. It seems a bit odd (even to me and I do it) that a couple of friends and I do DM as we still have to write in 140 characters. After all we could (and do as well) email or even chat, but it works for us *g* And that's what matters, right?

That sounds like a good idea. I haven't heard of Pinterest (I shall Google). I don't 'get' Tumblr personally at all. But each to their own, I guess.
Indeed you can't.
