Perhaps it's the smell of c diff clinging to your nostrils with the tenacity of an olympic swimmer
Or maybe it's the one person out of a hundred that actually appreciates the work you do for them at the hospital.
Perhaps it's the sudden realization that when you are a patient, you become a diagnosis: and even if you meet your end, we're gonna stick you in a freezer and fill that room with another diagnosis an hour later.
Or perhaps the multitude of cares and worry that you have been forced to endure are finally catchting up with you, and insomnia is as good of a way to deal with it as any.
Because amidst the stream of all of us, when the day is done there's only John.
