Really? I thought it was hilarious. It was like the worst parody of every ~evil doll~ horror plot ever. Largely because of Akiko's antics. ... Also, the second episode, where she was chasing after a doll and going on and on about its feelings and Shoutaro was all "Even if it's a doll, she doesn't want it to cry. That's the kind of person she is." And they were treating it like a valid, normal thing that shouldn't get Akiko locked into a mental institution and just. Whaaaaaaaaaaat.
*flails* It was very, VERY loosely based on W, I just loved the idea of the Memories, just in a less insane kind of way, lol.
W is so great - it's definitely my second favorite after Den-O. That doll, though... So incredibly creepy. Some of the monsters are pretty scary considering that it's a series aimed at kids. ;~;
It had ... I mean, yeah, it was very loosely based, but it had the feeling of a Kamen Rider series. Only less wtf and no rider suits. ... If that makes sense. a;slfk;asd but um, it had the feeling of being something epic? And it was about a journey, just like every KR I've ever seen (even if they didn't start out that way).
I wasn't able to get all the way through Den-O. It was just so fluffy that between Kabuto and Kiva I couldn't quite make myself finish it. I'll have to try again sometime
( ... )
Yeah, I get what you mean. Idk, maybe I was just in a KR kind of mood when I was writing - considering that I've seen most of the recent series without ever writing anything KR based before, I wouldn't be surprised if that sort of...bled into the writing. Or something.
...though now I'm imaginine Heechul and Mithra in KR suits and my mind should not be allowed to go there, lmao.
Den-O was the first KR series that I ever watched, and Sato Takeru is one of my all-time favorite actors, so I think I'm kind of biased. I like the fluffiness, though, it was just so much FUN to watch every time.
True, it was kind of ridiculous as well, especially the laughter, I just found its face to be creepy. I'm easily creeped out sometimes! XD And well, it wouldn't be KR if it wasn't a little ridiculous, lmao. It does seem to be generally darker and more serious than sentai, yeah, though my knowledge of sentai mostly limits itself to my friend's picspams/capspams of various episodes. Some of that stuff is just all... Whaaaat.
