Favorite memory attached to this was doing kareoke with a flock of LARPers in AZ, 2001. We took over this frat bar and one of the guys requested "American Pie" and sang all of the Weird Al lyrics over it. From memory. And he wasn't drunk, meaning he never had inhibitions to begin with.

haw haw love that. I had heard the song, of course, but hadn't seen the video.

I think Weird Al did this because he wanted to wear the cool costume.

ha ha, I remember seeing that video on tv shortly after it was made, and not knowing it was Weird Al because I'd never seen him without big curly hair and crazy clothes. Good times.
