Another great videogame that's an RPG/strategy game (GameCube, of course) is Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Will and I have been playing for awhile now (when we're not catching up on Battlestar Galactica or doing wedding stuff). We're more than halfway through the game now, and it's incredibly enjoyable, and has a very good plot. There is occasionally a few cliche things, but overall it's really cool.

Have you played the earlier games? Is it ok to play without having played them? I hate picking a series up in the middle... I'm always afraid I'll miss something... (Of course, I have THE LIST of unfinished games at home, so it's not like I'm dying to get more... :)

I have never played any other Fire Emblem game before this one, and it hasn't affected my gameplay/enjoyment as far as I can tell. I don't know if Will's played Fire Emblem before or not. So it's not apparently necessary to play all the others in order to really have a good time with this one.

Oh yay! I'm no longer the only person I know who got fed up with FF8! *literally dozed off at the controller* Of course, as much as everyone else likes it I have to wonder if I would have been converted if I'd just soldiered on through the confusion...

Heh. I doubt it. I tried to play it several times, and got mostly through the game... Finally I had someone record the ending for me so I could see it, and I still wasn't impressed. So, I don't think you're missing anything :)

I've actually seen the ending, and I'm still confused about it...But then, FF games aren't known for wrapping themselves up very well.

I need more GameCube games. Although I too have a To Be Played list that could use some attention ^^

PoP: Two Thrones I put in at Christmas when I got it, and haven't had time to pick up again. It's sad. I need to devote more chores to week nights so I have more play time on the weekends.

Aah! Tales of Destiny or Prince of Persia! What a lovely decision to have to make! (Of course, I personally would pick Tales of Destiny, because I can't do the whole "action game" thing... although PoP:SoT made me learn...)

You should share your To Be Played list! I'd love to see what's on it! (Hmmm.. I wonder if that would fly as a meme...)

my to Be Played list has several sub-categories, like "to be (re)played, all by myself this time" or "to ACTUALLY play instead of watch someone else play" or "play despite having read spoilers", and "start file over after someone erased mine halfway through". Because those all count in addition to the "heard good things, must experience" variety of Must Play.
