The Uni that i attended once a time was so over crowded that if you didn't show up for the first day of class you would likely be droped from the class in favor of someone who wanted to take the class but didn't get registered in time. And the school I'm at now has a very strict polocy that if you don't show up the first day you are dropped, and can not be reinstated.
