1. Good news! My bff's mum knows someone that lives in Syra and he's offering to put us up (when we go on our middle-east trip this Easter) - and his sister is a tour guide. SCORE. I am so, sooo looking forward to all of this. Me and R are going to spend some of Christmas doing a plan-of-action and talk about flights and booking things etc. Tried

I loved the first book in His Dark Materials, but I really didn't like the second. I loved it overall (as an entire canon of His Dark Materials), but as you said, so little seemed to happen...

And totally Prisoner of Azkaban! I loved it. I think it had more plot than some others put together! I do have to say, you're one of the few people who likes the 5th! It always felt to me that she decided to make up for everything going smoothly for Harry in the first 4 by everything going wrong in the 5th. I wanted to kill everyone in that book! ;)

I think most people prefer Northern Lights out of all three but love the entire canon in general, just as you say. The first book is just so... perfect? There was far too much moving around in the last book for me to love it as much as the first and the second had no conclusion of it's own - it just stopped practically half-way through a sentance. Definately more of a bridge. :/

Hahaha - yes, I konw I'm one of the few that like the 5th best. I just... liked when the shit got real. I thought death of Sirius was heart-breaking and the creation of Umbridge - who isn't a Death Eater but just as evil. I don't know - it just clicked with me.
