I get where he's coming from when he says there are people that are gay and more "flamboyant", but man the rest of it is so clumsy and heavy handed. Also, I still don't see how his costume is any more flamboyant that any other hero. Hell, Red Robin's costume is more flamboyant!

Scott Lobdell has done stuff I've enjoyed, but when he gets things wrong he really has a way of getting them wrong.

It's almost as if they're completely ignorant of how flamingly flamboyant/well-dressed metrosexual has been the controlling depiction of gay males across all media since the dawn of time and that Midnighter and Apollo, or any other stereotype-breaking depictions are actually the outliers not the standard.

As for the children.. Most simply don’t know or don’t care. It’s not like Migg’s is going to be doing a one man gay pride parade. I don’t think we even mention that he’s gay, you see him, you know it, no need to harp on about it. He’s just a happy fun loving guy! He won’t be wearing anything that I haven’t seen at Walmart. Well maybe Target;)

::sputters::

No need to do anything icky like talk about him being gay, oooohhhh no. Just have him prance around (and I use that term deliberately, because it seems like they're pulling out all the stops in this regard) dressed in stereotypical gay attire so the readers can tell he's the series Token Unoffensive But Still Reassuringly Flamboyant Gay but not have to deal with any real storyline content that might make them uncomfortable.

So . . . we now have stereotypical flamboyant gays on top of only-there-to-please-men booty girls.

That does it. I am now convinced that the DC reboot was orchestrated by Republicans.
