My guess is that it means that there is a bad connection between the computer and the engine tachometer (which may or may not be related to the tachometer on the dash).

In English, it means that the computer can't tell how fast the engine is really turning and it is unhappy with this.

That sounds like what happened when I was driving home on Sunday.

I've got an appt to take her into the shop on Friday. *Fingers crossed* that it will be covered under my 100,000 mile/7yr powertrain warranty!
