Australia, from a purely domestic pov, like to preach about their ‘multiculturalism’ but pretty much paint itself as white as possible on the international arena But we put Indigenous australians in our tourism ads! That totally counts, right? /sarcasm
Feh. Australia's multicultural fail is seriously annoying, and I feel like more and more the discourse around multiculturalism is that we should be whiter and whiter. /o\ I disagree!

The whole thing is just all sort of ridiculous. I'm not particularly fussed about the whole no people of colour in our media. It is just the complete and utter denial about it. Like, oh noes, Australia as a nation is a country that embraces others culture and we are proud of it. I mean we have a sushi section in Woolies and other stores, and look at our amazing promotional campaign for Nasi Goreng!
Our promotional ad… well, you know we had to pick a white, blond girl because she won the spot on her own merit!
Oh, and we are definitely not being slammed by the UN for committing the genocide! /sarcasm/
It is the false advertising more than anything that gets me. *SIGHS*
