Stunned silence. Apparently I'm disabled.

Okay, so this is fucked up and hilarious and completely, unexpectedly awesome.

I wrote about being denied for disability here: Time and tide, and a complete lack of surprise.

Except . . . the letter wasn't a denial letter. It was an acceptance letter. The most backhanded piece of mail I have ever received, one that masqueraded almost perfectly ( Read more... )

Your last paragraph... yeah. But... this is amazing, in one of the older senses of the word.

I am so utterly delighted for you :)

Your strength throughout this entire process has been absolutely mesmerising to read.

It hasn't been all grace and coping admirably. There's been a lot of behind-the-scenes misery and flailing. XD

I don't know if it counts as strength if you simply don't have a choice but to bear it. There was nothing else to do. And it may not be over. I don't know yet. Still really scared about all their stupid limits and regulations.

I can imagine that there's a lot of frantic paddling going on behind the scenes :) I think what makes you come across as strong to me is the ways in which this has not been easy on you, the horrible hoops you have been made to jump through and the situations you have been forced into - but you never gave up, you kept fighting and even when you thought you hadn't succeeded you were still willing to put yourself through more hell to get what you deserve.

There is a strength in just surviving something, but you've done more than survive because you've been able to share your experiences here and articulate them so incredibly well too.

That's the point. You had to bear it, and you DID. There's plenty of others who would've crumbled under that strain. Go, you!

"Slow progress is better than no progress." This is my personal motto. Anyone else may use it if it serves their needs.
