One of the most amazing hunter-jumpers I ever saw when they televised such events was a crossbred Clydesdale+some warmblood/hotblood breed (don't recall). Could jump like a f-kiing elevator. And won enough to be in Grand Prix events.
Awesome list. :D I'm currently riding the following at my stable, doing dressage and jumping, with a little bit of very beginner cross-country: Appaloosa, Percheron cross (omg huge hooves), Quarter Horse who doesn't look like the breed standard at all, $$$$ imported Dutch warmblood gotten for a steal due to the economy, a Tenn. Walking "horse" who's technically a pony, and recently a TB. I used to lease a Trakhener that I ADORED and is what I would look for if I ever got the time and money. Then would come the Freisian, the Shire, the Gypsy Vann......
Okay, that sounded dirtier than I meant it. I just want to come over to your place and ride.
Yeah, not better. How about: HORSIES!
Oh man, the Trakheners are gorgeous. I think Friesians are probably my favorites, but some of the Gypsy Vanners I've seen are AMAZING. I saw one that was pretty much solid black with a white mane and tail, and a black stripe in both mane and tail. Like a frigging Goth My Little Pony. O_O WANT.
Was hanging on to this until I had time to reply, and then it got buried in my inbox. *blush* Both of your initial comments made me laugh. :D The Trakhener I rode wouldn't take your breath away to look at, but he *was* quality. I was lucky enough to get to ride a Friesian earlier in the year, and that was just such a big thing for me. :D Haven't gotten a chance to meet a Gypsy Vanner in person yet. The last time I was able to go to a rare/heritage breed show, they had Percherons, Shires, a Clydesdale, Missouri Fox Trotter, Cleveland Bay (GORGEOUS) and an incredible dark grey dappled Dales stallion who was ready to take the neighboring Bay on.
