The shitty part is that I see why they have to do this. They need to know this stuff, and that is totally legit. But it's like they hired someone to make the damn thing as unhelpful, useless, and frustrating as possible without ACTUALLY giving anyone anything concrete to point at. It felt like being trolled. Seriously.

I am hoping the denial/appeal process isn't as destructive to my well-being as I am afraid it will be. I mean, I THINK I'll be mostly fine, but if I'm wrong, that will really, really suck.

i find that knowing ahead that it is NORMAL for them to deny you.. its almost policy! helped me to deal.
otherwise the whole "appeal" "file more forms" etc would be far more discouraging.
as it is? its annoying but if you start out with the "now they will deny this..." and just take it as stupid bureaucratic garbage.. its not personal.. it is better.
frankly just make a file drawer for all the stuff, put the "got this form" "mailed this" on your calender so you can refer to it
keep copies of EVERYTHING.. doctors papers, your forms, what you get from them....shrug
its annoying but you will get through it!
