By the way, I meant to tell you:

I told Stacy Lung to contact you about your wire/jewel thingies for a con. I figure you still might have a lot of those, or can produce several fairly quickly, if you're in the mood. She is not looking for commissions or artwork, so much as 'artistic goodies' like those faery jewel thingies for her artshow.

Yah, I meant to tell you as well, you are doing these photoshoots with a mere Canon Powershot?!?!?!??! My FSM, Naamah, what deity did you sacrifice to to, to make such incredible photographs?

You really are one of my artistic heroes.

I'm just minding my settings really carefully for what kind of light I'm using (halogen, etc.), making sure I'm using the macro setting if I'm shooting closer in than about two feet, and making sure my colors are set to vivid and my ISO is very low. My lighting is very basic at best, just two art lamps on opposite sides of the setup, one further away than the other. Oh, and I use the two-second shutter delay to make sure there's no motion blur.

The rest is just props and backdrops and framing, which takes practice but isn't particularly difficult to learn. I mean, I've never taken any classes, and I've read maybe three articles about digital photography, like, ever.

Honestly, I think the fact that the lighting I use is actually very dim if you're in the room physically is a huge help as far as getting a certain kind of shot. Like that first one? That is all me making the most of the crappy lighting.

I think those would make a hilarious gift pre-filled with chanukka gelt (the gold chocolate coins.)
