Still not the greatest I've ever been, but I'm coping, and am feeling way better than I wasWe got some blackout shades to put up in the bedroom windows, so I've been adjusting to having less light, and now I'm sleeping much more solidly. I still feel like I'll never have a normal sleep schedule again. We both have problems sleeping fairly often, ( Read more... )

Do those free lessons have a Norwegian or Danish version, by chance? Norwegian is my first choice, for silly reasons (of course), but Danish is pretty similar apart from the weird pronunciation that makes everyone sound like they've got a mouthful of boiled potato.

Benadryl is the only thing that can put me to sleep. Ambien does nothing, Lunesta makes me trip balls, and even Lyrica and Cymbalta together do nothing special. Mmm, Benadryl. Antihistalicious.

Hmmm. You might try here first, it's a list of free language resources. Not all of them are actually free, though, but many are, and that's where I found the Italian lessons, which are put together by an Italian teacher in Florida.

Also, I've found About.com useful for vocabulary.

I'm glad you're doing something fun. On the plus side, Italian will help you with Spanish again should you pick that up in the future. :)

I'm not quite as bad an insomniac as you, but close. I have had sleeping problems since at least age 6. Valerian + melatonin barely touches it for me, and I'm afraid to take something stronger due to the rampant substance abuse in my family.

My dream, my ultimate goal, is to do a lion skull someday. To my anguish, there's one up on eBay right now for a crazy-low current bid. I'm a long way from being that proficient, though, and I certainly cannot afford it right now. I want to get at least a dozen skulls under my belt before I try to work on something that irreplaceable and powerful.

If I had the funds in my paypal account ($20 short, but I added funds today) and if it didn't get too high on Monday when the funds should be in the account I would definitely buy it for you.

How do you feel about a turtle skull?

I hear you on the insomnia thing... For me though it's not insomnia so much as my body insists that it should be sleeping from 5am through 1pm, and if I try to go to bed earlier than that, I will generally toss and turn or lie awake in bed until somewhere after 4am... Once it's late enough (or early enough, rather) my body will sleep just fine... *sigh* And nothing works other than just coping. Doctors tried me on sleep meds in college - I stopped them after waking up in my dorm room one morning partially dressed in street clothes (when I went to bed in PJs) and discovering my shirt in my office in the computer lab located across campus in one of the classroom buildings ( ... )
