Its sad when someone harms them self to meet someone else's twisted ideal of what they should look like.

I like that a lot. I think that there are a lot of foolish tasks assigned to women for exactly this reason, most of them concerning appearance and over-pleasing other people.

I need to re-read that book.

Foolish tasks indeed- I swear- many of us are literally groomed from birth to accept such things as vital to our self-esteem.

Like grooming and appearance. And willing indentured servitude. And the whole bridezilla thing. And appeasing men.

I've spent most of my conscious life trying to avoid 'foolish tasks', and have paid dearly for my daring. But I am living my own life- even if it isn't exactly what I hoped I would have.
