I occasionally -- very occasionally -- do line art, and thought I would share one of my favorite recent pieces. It's just a quick RPG visual aid/character sketch that turned out good enough to polish up, but I like it.

And the scientific name Smilidon populator makes me picture sabre-tooths in the quiverfull movement.

Snork. Quiverfull smilodons. (The name actually translated to depopulator, which gives me a happy mental image of a smilodon-based reckoning of religious nutjobs.)

Jesus Christing Fuck! That's scary cat alright....and very very cool...

Annndd now the mad scientist in me is pointing out that we have near complete genomes for those species, thanks to decent preservation of the teeth. One could in theory create a living breathing version of this beastie...

Either way...very cool palaeontological fan-fic..

True; these features never coexisted in a single animal. But then, Spielberg was just trying to make a certain species of dromaeosaur into more of a badass -- until Utahraptor was discovered.
