Ice Storm Aftermath Part One!

I've got tons of picture posts to make, so I might as well get started.

This is the first of several posts showing the aftermath of the ice storm. This one is just what happened to our propertyI'm going to show you seven pictures, and all of them are of wood that came out of our yard. Just keep that in mind. One yard's worth

Dang, that's a lot of tree. And congratulations on your luck--we saw some damage back in 04, but nothing like this.

Thank you! So am I! It was really scary that first night, with everything falling. The poor cats were petrified.

I know! I wish we had a fireplace, so we could've used it next year.

We did save some back for this and that, but alas, most of it went to waste. I have no idea what the city is going to do with it.

Obviously, it's not quite on the same scale - but quite a few of the London boroughs collect everyone's Christmas trees in January, and chip them down - then use them as mulch on the flowerbeds to help keep moisture in the soil come summer.

I'd imagine they may do something similar - if nothing else, bags of wood chippings are no doubt a lot more efficient to store/transport than chunks of tree!
