If anyone was born to lycanthropy, I am she.

I was born under a full moon.

When they cut me from my mother, I came out covered in fine hairs. Because of the manner of my birth, I emerged covered in blood, and they tell me I smiled. I do not remember.

So I often think I was born to this: mania. Touched by the moon-goddess in her fright mask, ( Read more... )

lycanthropy, gaming, lost souls

Now...THIS would be an awesome thing to have in the "Legendary" anthology, just as is.

Beautiful.

I could easily work it into a really similar poem.

I do have those two poems almost ready to go out. If you don't have 'em by the 14th or so, pester me.

YAY! I GET TO PESTER!!!!!

*ahem*

I'd like you to send all three. And happy birthday (again)...may the start of your 4th decade be rocking in the best ways possible.

Glorious. This inspired me to look up when the moon would be new again on my birthday, and not only will it be my 30th as well, it will also precede a total solar eclipse. AWESOME!

The word "lunacy" comes from the root "luna" for moon. In other languages, "lunatica" doesn't mean crazy, it means someone who is unpredictable, whose mood waxes and wanes like the moon.

I had to look up "lycanthropy", it suits you.

It's surprising how many of our words for mental illness -- lunatic, lunacy, mania, manic, and the suffix -mania -- come from words for, basically, moon madness.

It's pretty cool.

Between that and the hysteria-uterus connection, this is very interesting.

Blue Moons. :-) amazon_syren June 3 2007, 12:35:40 UTC
I was born on a full moon (or possibly the day before, not totally sure), too. :-) (Moon in Pisces, Sun in Scorpio... 'Cause, y'know, you're just so desperate to know my signs. ;-)

I particularly like the blood tide imagery. :-)

This was quite awesome. :-)

Also: There were two full moons in May. :-) Whee! :-)

I got your letter in my mailbox today,
You were just checkin' if I was OK.
And do I miss you? Well, you know what they say,
Just once, in a very blue moon,
Just once, in a very blue moon.
Just once, in a very blue moon,
And I feel one comin' on soon.
