BPAL Scent Reviews V

Jan 15, 2006 19:47

Round five of the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab reviews. I'm not even close to working through my backlog of already-written reviews, let alone the box of imps I'm hoarding.

First, a word about the allure of perfume, and the peculiar problems posed by scent.

Philosophical ramblings on language, senses, and gratification. )

O_O

I hadn't noticed that. Been a while since I've smelled it. I have to go sniff some with that in mind, now. XD

Was Miskatonic University a limited scent?

Yes, sadly limited. I hoard my remaining stash.

Excellent! I ordered 3 imps recently for a friend's birthday, and I've been horridly nervous that she won't like any of them because I know scent is an incredibly personal thing. But I knew I had a pretty good handle on the kind of stuff she likes, so one of the ones I've ordered for her is O - and your description of it has laid to rest any doubts I had at all. It sounds utterly perfect. Yay!

Crap... now I wish I had a functional sense of smell!!
Curse these sickly sinuses of mine!!

I want a bottle of Miskatonic, I don't care if I'm a bloke, that's a mascaline academics scent if there ever was one!

Many of these scents are perfectly wearable by men. I've only run across a very few that I would consider too feminine for a man.

Of course, three of the five reviewed above are perfect examples of "too girly for a guy." But Misk. U. is very gender-neutral. If you can find a bottle, it's nice.
