Sleep? What Is This "Sleep?"

Nov 04, 2005 04:32

There is very little more boring than listening to someone talk about their writing process. I will let it suffice to say that I am still chugging along, several days ahead of where I need to be, despite regular cat interventions and rancid dog farts ( Read more... )

I like your icon. It's hypnotic.

Free to gank, if you're writing. Can't remember who made it, but it's credited on my icons page. :D

It does seem to be about playing and having fun. That impossible bar and hovering deadline tend to strip away the bullshit ropes we use to bind our creativity, and letting that happen under pressure occasionally can only be good for the working process.

I wouldn't want to write like this all the time, but doing it now and then makes sure I ALWAYS have my internal editor in check.

Hey now... no porn is bad porn. Unless you're attempting to type it out blindfolded using a stick strapped between your toes. Then it might be a little sub-par.

And as for the questions (ooh questions! We loves them, the precious)... I just LOVE writing this character pairing. I adore them beyond belief and if they weren't fictional gay boys, I'd fuck them both and make them my bitches. I love everything about them; how flawed they both are, how dedicated they are, how squishy. Plus the hotness of boys kissing (and more) factor. And I continue to do Nano because I've NEVER won. three years straight and I never made it to the goal. Of course, I've always been just lukewarm about the ideas and this year I'm passionate about the characters.

And squeez cheez is awesome. Especially on Wheat Thins. XD

You know, loving your characters makes ALL the difference. I loved the characters, and I mean loved them, for my first two tries at this. And things went smoothly. This one, I love the characters, but not as much -- mostly I love the setting, and the bit players. And it's coming harder.

It absolutely makes all the difference. Last year I knocked out a staggering 864 words total on an idea that was cute at the time but, as I started writing, became less and less cute.

Meh, doing NaNoWriMo just on a whim. Wow. I am doomed aren't I? O.o I mean I have 53948543590 things going on, as most of us do and I've signed up to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days?! WTF.

I sorta feel like I'm stuck in this giant fish tank, slumped over my laptop and everybody's tapping on the glass and leaving greasy evil fingerprints on it. And it's making me twitch. XP My family doesn't seem to understand that when I talk to them in a series of uninterested grunts among novel dialogue, it basically means 'Novelling. Go. Away.'
Damn them.

I feel good about it, except for the fact that I scared one of my friends with my opening and now she's all shy about showing me her things. >.< I'll probably become a shut in and be surrounded by empty water bottles/Cup'A'Soups/etc by Sunday's end this week. And I will probably have horrible purple rings under my eyes and look like a raccoon, but what the hell.

Heeehee. I love my eb0l fat lady. Bwhaha.

My, what a vivid and unpleasant mental image. XD

Yes, dealing with interruptions is a tremendous pain. Thankfully, I have only my cats to contend with, and no nosy family members.

It's like some horrible animated movie where the beleaguered heroine flees her home, has lots of zany adventures, and breaks into sex along the way like Disney Princesses break into song.

No. NO. You must share that with the class. When something makes my inner child scream like somebody's beating with with a rock in a burlap sack, I have to read it.

As for your questions, I'm doing Nano to push myself to write, which is something I haven't done consistently for over two years. It's a chance create something, when I usually just play World of Warcraft.

Squeez Cheez is a great comparison. Something that you can only take until you get sick and die of salt overload.

I don't really have a plot point that's my favorite. Do I have a plot? Also a no. Ha.
