Cat-Brides of Dracula

Now.

Let me tell you about Mathurin.

I got him on a trip to Georgia when I was just barely fourteen. The friend I'd gone to see met me in the Burger King, and produced a squirming, fuzzy bundle from beneath her striped shirt.

She knew I loved cats, see, and knew I loved black cats even better.

Let me tell you, I have seen some ugly kittens. ( Read on for tales of The Eater Of Heads. )

cats, mathurin

They're also feeling spry enough to break their litter training in new and acrobatic places, such as behind the entertainment center, where we have to resort to tool use...

To stop our cats and rabbit from doing various nasty stuff behind the unmoveable entertainment unit, we bought two pieces of rubber-coated wire mesh, which we rolled and wedged behind the unit at both ends. The rolls unwound like springs to fill the gap. Cats and rabbit stay out.

Most likely your feline wenches and Matt will work out their differences soon enough. If not, save yourself the mess clean-up with these "wedgies."

We've currently got it blocked off with Plexiglas, which is fun because they can't see it at first, and inevitably slam into it a couple of times trying to get back there.

I like the mesh idea, though, to keep them out of other areas that aren't so easy to block . . . hmm.

We had a cat named Smokie (yes, named by me - he was a huge, greyish-black, long-haired, outdoors mutt-cat) who was followed throughout the neighborhood by the local crows and harrassed with foul imprecations and exhortations to other locals animals the "Butcher of Rita Avenue" was nearby ( ... )

Awesome cat! I have fond memories of my old tough-as-nails outdoors cats as well. Remarkable animals.

There is a reason why numerous people have called me "The Beloved of Bastet"

I love cats, and they love me almost without fail.

I had a lion cub fall asleep in my arms once while it sucked on my finger.

Hmm. I guess I better quit bitching about my oldest peeing on the kitchen counter everytime a new foster cat comes into the house. At least we can reach the kitchen counter to clean it.

Oh, and Cat-Brides of Dracula? Fucking hilarious. You need your own column someplace.

Black cats rule. This is my second one (a girl). My first cat (a boy) is now living with a good friend in Chicago and I miss him oodles - but my girl is evil, too. She used to chase (and kill) birds of varying sizes. A crow, once, if I'm not mistaken...

She's fast and she likes to hunt. I think she's mostly cougar, in domestic size.

They don't know they're little. Fish is convinced that she could kill and eat us, and I firmly believe the only reason she hasn't tried is that she likes to have her tummy scratched. Thank goodness for her itchy nipples, or I'd be cat chow!

At first, she was totally cowed.

Now they're currently battling over who is Top Cat. Tazendra is leading by virtue of physical intimidation. She's not as big but she's got two pounds on him at least, she has long fur, and she is not chary about putting the smack down if she runs into him coming around a corner.

Matt, on the other hand, has a howl that would give the Balrog pause, so if he gets enough warning, he lets loose with the air-horn, and she runs.

It's actually quite entertaining. When I'm not trying to sleep.
