Toby Keith FTW!!! That is one of my favorite songs of his, and I love how you used the lyrics as lines of dialogue instead of just sticking them in there between the paragraphs of the story. Good job! Can't wait to see which song you use next. ^___^

I feel that a songfic should be showing the situation of the song, not just a scene with the song playing in the background.

Now I did use that format in "X-Men - The Musical", but whole set-up of a musical is a song inserted into a scene.

I always felt that a song fic was when the lyrics of the song directed the way the story played out. I've written a couple of them that way and it was fun too. I am writing a fic in another fandom that just has the song playing as background to the scene playing out, sort of like a soundtrack so I don't guess you could call it a song fic then. >_< Anyway, still liked the fic and definitely looking forward to the next. Hope it is a song that I know. ^_^

Well according to Wikipedia songfic is:
This is a genre, defined by its distinct format, in which an author takes an existing song and uses the lyrics to generate the theme of his or her story, or to add emphasis to certain aspects of it. "Songfics" are usually one-shots though there are exceptions, including lengthy series that either include various songs, or utilize the songfic format for only select portions of the work. The title of a songfic is usually the name of the song featured in the story -- but the title may use specific lyrics from a song or it may not have anything to do with the song at all.

So the theme of the fic or to add emphasis. I'll read whatever form it takes... I just write in this one.

Hope it is a song that I know.
I'll drop a few hints (cus I don't know which one will finish first): Dick Tracy, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Anastasia, Levi Kreis.
