I want to knit a shawl.

This isn't a huge problem, there are tons of shawl patterns on Ravlery.

The problem is: there are tons of shawl patterns on Ravlery!

I have it narrowed down to two.

The one that won't bore you to tears... both would be boring for me because I need to do something other than stockinette or garter. The first one is more practical, the second is a bit prettier. Think about what you want it for.

Start with the second. It has multiple applications (the first is harder to layer), and is smaller (thus providing earlier gratification).

I think the first looks more practical but then I tend towards lace shawlettes normally...
