'Shire Thing #8 - While there are trees EVERYWHERE in New Hampshire, they are all new growth. I knew that it was timber from the colonies that built the amazing navy that made Great Britain a superpower, but I didn't realize that almost all of New England had been clear cut to do so.

That's kind of strange for me to picture, because the last time is was in the Connecticut/Maine area all there were were trees trees trees. The highways there made me want to return to my childhood of fairydom

It is kind of weird to think of something 100 years old as "new". I was told that most of the trees in NH were planted around the time of the Civil War.
