I'm going to call for Christ to be put back into Christianity.
Good luck with that. So many of these people are shockingly ignorant of their own religion that it is far too much to ask that they follow its teachings.

Many of the tea party folk that I know are neither "religious" nor "right". As is usual, the truth is messy and lines aren't clear.

The substance of your rant is, sadly, entirely correct. Too many people who identify as Christian either aren't very devout or simply outsource knowledge of their own religion to the Clergy.
