Action writing is hard (at least, I find it hard), but this is fantastic! I loved it! You did a great job of creating tension and increasing it as the fic went on, and you're very good at writing out a battle scene without making it confusing.

General, I like to think since Castiel is an angel, he would be able to see hellhounds (we have no proof either way) but having him not see them here works really well because it makes things more dangerous and intense.

That was something I played with here and there and even tried writing both ways, because of Castiel's unique abilities. But I ran into a couple problems: mostly, I'm too lazy to actually come up with a plausible description of hellhounds and because, like you said, it did just work better not being able to see them. Trying to figure out just what Castiel can and cannot do or see is, sometimes, problematic, given that he is alternately taken by surprise and all-seeing in often the same episode. XD;;

... Maybe he just didn't want to see them, 'cause they're ugly. :D

That said, I have been looking through some posted fic and have stumbled across some of yours; I've liked what I've read so far and fully intend on leaving actual comments.

Good action! I love a good sword fight, even if everything I know about swordfighting I learned from Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone. :D

This could fit as a nice coda into one of many episodes.

Thank you very much. I adore writing and reading action, so getting back into fandom like this was just FUN for me. :D I'm very glad you liked it. (Truthfully, I have a friend who is a student of kendo and I tend to ask her a good many questions. And I own a wooden sword and dagger. Eh, I'll admit that writing these things is good exercise for me because I, uhm. Practice the moves to see how possible they are.)
