*hugs Briney* Awwwww, poor guy. :(

Good idea freezing time to get a good look at them, but wow that must have been a difficult moment for him!

Such an awkward situation he's in; even if he did want to be in the kids' lives, he'd have to get past Rodney and Seth first.

Poor Briney....at least he's seen them now? Loved the insight into the triplets, too. Interesting to see them from an outside perspective. :D

Lol, I just realised he's going to be your father-in-law X)

Anyway, yes, it was a lot easier to deal with when the kids were more like abstract ideas living somewhere out there, rather than actual people he'd seen and heard :(

And you do not want to get between Rodney Jalowitz and his family >.>

They're an interesting bunch, though Abigail obviously stands out the most :P

Ha, I'd actually forgotten about that! Aw, poor Dad-in-law. *hugs*

Yep, when you've got someone to miss, rather than just an idea that they're there, it's definitely harder.

Eee so excited to see this generation growing up! So many great and interesting personalities. :D

Oh, and forgot to mention awww for Eddie being like Liv. Most of the time I'd actually consider that a good thing. Rather that than be like Rodney! :)

*hugs Briney* Rodney and Seth should totally have let him be with Liv. Everyone would have been happier that way, except perhaps the kids...

*kicks Rodney and Seth again* They are messing everything up.

The problem with actually doing that, especially at the point we're actually at in the story, is that somebody would be bound to see Briney with Liv and the triplets and assume they're his, and then the kids would start to wonder why the triplets look so much like Briney, especially when they were born when Winston was still alive, and then they'd realise about the affair, and then possibly even put the link that them having an affair got Winston killed...! Uber family destruction and much heartache to be had.
Although, to be fair, that could all be circumnavigated by Briney having a face lift so nobody puts those pieces together, but Rodney wouldn't trust him not to do something against his interests, so it wouldn't be allowed.

*sigh* Yes, they have a tendency to do that...

How sad! :( Though I love the fact that he used his ability to stop time just to get a better look at his children. I would have done the same thing. Actually I would probably use that ability for less "good" intentions, now that I think about it. >_>

BUT Briney is being too good! Please tell me there's something happy in his future. Nicely written, Jess! :)

Heh, Briney really does have the ability and potential to become like the ultimate assassin, but his brain just doesn't work that way and he's so certain that things would go wrong...

Hmmmmm, maybe. Not absolutely concrete, but we have plans. And, of course, Briney theoretically has all the time in the world to have a happy future...!

Thank you ^.^

Aww poor Briney. >pats< If I'd been him I would have written each kid a note and put in their school bags.

But what would you say?
Even if you wrote them the truth, they might think it was a prank or something or (especially if you put something like 'don't tell your grandparents') they might think it was some crazy creepy stalker, or, even if they did believe it, in any of these cases it's likely they'd mention it to Rodney and people, and he'd soon get back to Briney about that. And even if he put 'don't tell your grandfathers but ask your mother' - he doesn't know if Liv would be okay with them knowing and he doesn't want to mess everything up for her.
The only thing he could realistically do is write a nice, vague note that gives no indication of who he is or what he wants but might brighten their day or something, though even that would probably be treated with a little suspicion :/

It's a really crappy situation for the poor guy *pets him*

Well I didn't say there might not be ramifications, but yes given that the kids are highschoolers I'd be telling them the truth and possibly saying go look up such and such (if his face is in anything like a school year book) If he can stop time he should also be able to provide proof of who he is. Maybe Liv wouldn't be okay with it, but I think the kids have a right to know who their father is. -Thankfully this is just a story! *phew!*

Sounds like material for an AU to me :P Might have to experiment with it, but wouldn't work with canon plans ;)

Awwww. I mean, at least the kids are good, but poor Briney... He really did get the short end of the stick on a lot of things, but especially that he can't see or be with his kids, even though if circumstances had been different he totally would have been. Still, though - what is he going to do about it? It isn't like there's much he can do that won't piss off Rodney and Seth, and does he really want to complicate his kids' lives?
Poor Trick, though. He may look like Rodney but he's a nice kid, and if his dad ever had the chance to get to know him, he'd realize that.

Poor Briney's not got a fun part in the story indeed. *Prods Rodney (and Seth) for making everything worse*
And those are all very good questions, to which Briney's feeling would probably be "It's all hopeless! ;.;"

*nodnod* Trick's nice enough, but he is heavily influenced by Rodney. Luckily he doesn't know about all of Rodney's bad points :P
