Everyone has a childhood, even villains who used to be townies ^_^
Might do more of these for other characters, but had this event floating around in my head since I was wondering about Rodney's family and also why he's claustrophobic, so I had to write it out.
Er, enjoy? And try not to feel too sorry for him, it doesn't justify everything he does

Whether or not this explains anything about the adult Rodney, I still wanted to kick Aden and his friends for doing this to a little kid.

Definitely. It certainly explains the claustrophobia and hatred of being powerless, but it also alienated him from his family, who he partially blamed for letting it happen and continued to get into arguments with; he left home ASAP and then got increasingly involved in crime... And then he became who he is today *sigh*
I was so tempted to write a hypothetical scenario where young Rodney could have been friends with a young Seth and how that would have changed things, but I thought that might have made the canon confusing, even if it would have been highly entertaining.
And I am entirely with you on Aden - though, in the interests of fairness and the endless cycle of meanness, Aden bullies Rodney because he used to be picked on by his older brother, who picked on him because he was the middle child getting outshone by /his/ older brother and not getting as much attention as his younger brother. Sometimes I wish I was studying psychology... *hmm*

I like the idea of a "what if Rodney and Seth had known each other as children" scenario. Would Rodney be any different? Hmmm...

In personality not that much, but in terms of outcome, they'd both be very different. I did begin writing some of that, but I didn't finish because a) I have a deadline in less than 12 hours *shifty* and b) I wasn't sure that anyone would be interested... [/embarrassinglyinsecure] But if people /do/ want to know/are curious I'm always happy to vent my imagination... :)
