... Damn. I'm not sure I want to be buddies with this update.
Okay, that was a terrible plan, tactically speaking. That was even before there were consequences, but really, there is robot army and the town is practically under martial law, and you thought that the aliens, who were a completely unknown factor, were going to pop in and save the day, kids? Yeah, that was never going to work

Spoiler is [lj-spoiler][/lj-spoiler] (just replace brackets with carrots, like you do.)
Yeah, using all the quads as bait might work better, but there's not a lot of trial-and-error leeway in the "using people as bait" strategy. As it is, we've established that the aliens aren't too bothered about the loss of any single "scout" and that they're really not on the same page as humans on the concepts of individuality and consent
Oh, man! So scary to hear that Hideki had Maddie in custody. Oh, Dalton. I'm sad and scared for you forced to work for Hideki. This is definitely not good news.
Oh man. What did I say about the plan, what did I say? It was bound to go all wrong. And now Hideki's got Madeline and Dalton...
Dalton did a brave thing by rushing to save his sister, but again, that was incredibly foolish! Poor, poor Dalton, and poor Madeline, and... well, poor everyone else too. :( Now I'm wondering what it is that Dalton is agreeing to - the torturing deal or the being captured deal. Either way, I don't think I can even imagine the trauma.
I still wonder what Hideki's ultimate goal here is. Why would he offer to Dalton that he could leave? What is he after?
Another horrifying but brilliant update! Keep up the great work!
Of course it was going to go wrong - there was so much space for it to get worse! *Sigh*
Yeah, Dalton ran like four miles in his pajamas (slippers too! Headcanon states he would have lost those along the way). Dalton is not a practiced runner by any standard. Hence his inability to breathe by the time he got there...
Honestly? It's ALMOST empathy that means Hideki lets Dalton go, though it's more like anti-alien solidarity, since only he and Dalton (of the living) are in that position of being the eldest children of aliens. Hideki's deal he was offering was basically "You stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours", but of course Dalton didn't take him up on that due to Madeline. Whatever solidarity Hideki may have with Dalton does not extend to his siblings or father. And it doesn't mean he can't have other intentions for Dalton instead.
