Myshuno #1 - A First Crush

My first prompt fill! My current intention is to fill my prompts in (roughly) chronological order, possibly varying between mini-universes (ie Simfield, Heaven, Hell and the Afterlife) since those are hard to get really straight in my head time-wise and things get vaguer further into the future. But anyway, for now:

Prompt: A first crush

Lol, no, I wouldn't consider it that. Besides the brevity, it's both slightly intentionally (and probably accidentally) inaccurate. For example, I know the current government changed election periods, I think it might be 5 years now? I went with more what I think this universe would have ( ... )

Well, in my international politics naivete, I'd hope that three or more parties at least resolves some of the issues of a two party system: namely, the american mindset that democrats and republicans are sworn enemies and that when you are in the minority, it's your job to prevent legislation from happening.

Proportional representation seems like it should at least work better! So would educating the (American, at least) representatives about the value of money to the average Joe.

(I may be a little steamed over here: it's no wonder they can't agree on anything if the main threat of "shutting down the government," if they don't resolve their money issues just means that they get a paid vacation.)

Weeeell, we still have two /main/ parties who would declare themselves complete opposites at election time, but in reality their policies aren't so different besides their vague ideologies (and their more extreme members who aren't in charge in order to be acceptable to the centre). They'll co-operate and then say completely different things. Or not co-operate only in times when it doesn't matter because it'll be passed anyway. Which is good in comparison to the alternative I suppose. That's kind of the point of First Past the Post, I think: back in yon times when we had only two parties, the disproportionate seat winning meant that the victor had a larger majority and could get stuff done rather than the loser stealing the ball and refusing to play any more. Now that we have more parties with substantial support though ( ... )

This is actually rather sweet, it's just knowing what happens later...not so good. Poor boy, really should have told her how he felt in the first place.

Though it's dubious that, even if she knew, she would have gotten with him, and he would have felt bad about that. But at least it would have adjusted his expectations so he wouldn't be so outraged when along comes Birch Ryman...
Poor young Simon :/

Politics is more fun narrated by sweet, shy teenagers with hearts in their eyes talking to their crushes :P
Thank you ^.^

This would've been so cute if I wasn't perfectly aware of what comes after *sigh* Nice job with the description all the same, though!
