The time has come.

I've resisted the "friends-only" restriction for a while, but alas, it is inevitable. Ponderings of others and some time spent peering over the shoulders of my lovely kiddos as they browsed the internet (googling their teachers and social workers) has reminded me that I do prefer to be as anonymous as possible. Working with ( Read more... )

The 'working with kids' thing is the reason I never unlocked my Peace Corps LJ. My Romanian students are way too internet saavy for me to leave two years of ramblings unprotected.

A kid last week stumbled upon his social worker's "woman seeking female partnership" ad online. We had a good conversation about private vs professional life and bounaries, etc., but it will definitely be a hurdle for their relationship. I don't think I have anything that interesting for kids to find, but it certainly isn't worth the risk.

I definently understand that concern...especially in a field where strong interpersonal relationships are so critical. Even if there's nothing that seems "interesting," one can never know what others may find interesting down the line. Its no fun having one's past be a liability. :)

I friended you. My interests are mostly around education rights, particularly for girls, students with disabilities and students in extreme poverty. I plan to expatriate as soon as it's feasible, though the idea of a PhD has recently been put on the table, complicating my escape plan.

Hi!! Came across your post by way of the Deaf community- I was just wondering if your exposure to deaf communities in Kenya was through Global Deaf Connection?
